We're back, and had a wonderful time in Maui!
Whether laying by the pool, playing on the beach, or taking visits to our favorite spots, the trip was memorable, fun, and relaxing.... albeitstressful at times "different" with the munchkin in tow.
The nice thing about having a baby who wakes up at 5am is the advantage to secure any place by the pool, so most days consisted of laying by the pool with visits to the beach for snorkeling, playing in the waves, and catching some rays.
Most evenings we watched the sunset on the beach. Once the sun set, we'd stroll down the boardwalk at Ka'anapali, and by the time we got to our favorite restaurant, Abigail would be fast asleep. So we'd lovingly stash her under the table and enjoy a night for two!
Whether asleep or awake, Abigail was a hit. She made lots of friends and was regularly complimented on her choice of outfit, bikini, or hair piece :) She even had a few friends stop our babysitter on Wednesday night to say hi- our little Maui socialite.
The first morning she woke up at 4:30am, certain it was time to start the day. So we made the most of it; packed up the car and headed East to watch the sun rise.
Guess who feel asleep on the ride over...
We enjoyed a beautiful sunrise at a beach conveniently located next to a golf course, so guess who got to tee-off at sunrise?....
I'm glad he got this opportunity; it was the only time he used his clubs. Rates at Kapalua are about $250 this time of year!
After our morning outing, it was back to Ka'anapali for our first full beach day!
Sunday morning we headed to Haleakala.
We'd never been before, and would probably never go again, but it's nice to say we've been there / done that.
The roads were a little too twisty for our taste, and the view (since it was cloudy) left a bit to be desired...
But a few cute pics!
It did however afford us a visit to Paia and the North Shore!
Come Monday morning it was time for a visit to Black Rock- our favorite spot for snorkeling.
Kevin and I traded off watching Abigail while we snorkeled. No pictures from under the sea...we learned our lesson last time :)
Then per usual, back to the pool for a day of R&R.
Tuesday morning we headed to The Plantation House for breakfast (best breakfast in town!) then drove around Napili to find "our beach"...
We spent some tome hanging out, reminiscing, renewing our vows (kidding, kidding), then back to the resort for pool, ocean, sun time.
Wednesday started off with a snorkeling trip to Honoloa Bay and ended with a babysitter for Abigail and a date night for us!
Truth be told: it's hard traveling with a baby. In the spirit of full disclosure, I kinna lost my cool Wednesday morning, so Kevin headed to the front desk for a few babysitter recommendations- he saved the day...it's just what I needed: a night off, and a full next day of Kevin/Tanya time!
As I mentioned before, we left Abigail with a babysitter all day Thursday (9am-5pm) while we enjoyed a day of snorkeling, swimming, lunch at Aloha Mixed Plate (can't be beat- our favorite!) and a few daytime cocktails thrown in for good measure.
While snorkeling together we saw two turtles and got close enough to touch one. I only touched the shell since I was afraid he might bite, but Kevin made the brave move to reach for his fin. He didn't lose a finger, so maybe next time I'll try (and with my luck, probably get my hand chomped off...)
Before we knew it the day reached its end, so back we went to relieve the babysitter and get ready for our last night in Maui.
All in all it was a great trip!
Was it as relaxing as last time? no.
Was it different with a baby in tow? of course.
Would I do it again? probably not :)
But did I love it anyway? absolutely!!!
