Shop Till You Drop

Or at least until baby is far too stimulated!...

We had such a great time in San Fran this year.  Not only was it Abigail's first real vacation, but it was also her first airplane ride- and she did great.  I'm tellin' ya, this kid knows how to travel- she's her Mother's daughter!

She slept on both plane rides, and hung out contently in her stroller each day...  playing with her toys while awake, then quietly drifting off for naps in the midst of street noise, retail shop music, or sirens passing by.

An ideal travel buddy!

We left Sunday morning and hit our flight timing perfectly- it fell right in line with her morning nap so she was fast asleep before we hit our cruising altitude.

Once we got into town, we spent a while unpacking and jumping on the bed before heading out to see the sites!

Sunday was pretty low-key... wandered through town, shopped at Lohmann's (Seattle misses you- come back!), and found a great French cafe.

Monday began with breakfast at the famous Sears Fine Food, then a stroll down the waterfront headed for the Wharf.  A beautiful day for a long walk around town!

Our first stop at the Wharf: the sea lions on Pier 39!

Then a stop by Boudin Bakery where we saw an awesome sourdough alligator, crab, and turtles- too cute!

Per tradition, we had a seafood lunch at Cioppino's and enjoyed the sunny afternoon weather.

Just being cute!

After lunch we headed to Ghirardelli's for an ice cream Sunday, but not before stopping at a baby bench for an adorable photo opp.  People stopped to watch her pose for the camera- Abigail was in LOVE with the attention.... and the ice cream that was to follow!

First bite

Pretty sure we let her eat far too much....

The plan had been to take the scenic route back, but at the last minute we decided to make the brave trek up Hyde.... must have been our sugar high...

We followed another crazy stroller Mom up the hill...

After an incident with the camera lens cap, a few crazy looks from people on the trolley, and a serious lack of oxygen, we made it to the top where we enjoyed the beautiful view!

Rested up late that afternoon, then headed to Chinatown for dinner!

Tuesday started off right with mimosas at the St. Francis before a day full of shopping and lunch at the Neiman Marcus Rotunda (another yearly tradition)

"If you're going, to Saaan Fraaaansisco, be sure to wear, some flowers in your hair...."
Abigail was a hit at lunch; waiters from all around the restaurant came to see "the adorable baby with a big flower in her hair"  :)

A full day of shopping ensued, and by 5pm we were beat...so back to the hotel we went for happy hour followed by an early bedtime.

The initial Wednesday plan was to take a trolley to the waterfront, find an artist to do a sketch of Abigail, head back to Union Square for some last minute shopping, then off to the airport, but Abigail was beyond exhausted, so we settled for posing next to a trolley, a few last minute shopping trips, and Abigail's first "lift"  ;)

We had such an amazing time on our first 3-generation San Fransisco trip!

Until next time- take care San Fran!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
