Half a Year!

Yesterday was full of celebration!

The day began with story time with our PEPS friends where I picked up a few DVD's and books on baby sign language (our next learning feat).  Afterwards we headed to Cafe Bonjore at Greenlake for lunch, then walked around the lake.  Abigail decided half way around that she was done for the day...so I switched between the stroller, holding her, and stopping to nurse...it was interesting.  Note to self: 11am-4pm baby outings are not a good idea!

We headed home to rest up before Mamie, Papa, Grandma, Grandpa, Uncle Victor, and Uncle Mike came over for dinner at Gorditos.  Since it was such a nice day, we decided to walk to dinner and stopped along the way for Abigail's first swing ride- she loved it!

Even the Grandpa's joined in the fun!

Anne, Ian, and the kids met us at Gorditos.  So much fun having the whole family together to celebrate Abigail's half birthday.  John and Carolyn, you were missed- so move here already!

A surprised birthday girl!

Chuck and Gail- best baby friends!

We printed an 8x10 of her baby vs. burrito picture to frame at the restaurant, and of course, a comparison picture to see how she's grown.

And for a quick side-by-side comparison:

My dearest Abigail, the past month you have grown so much.  As Dad and I like to say, you've grown from a baby to a teenager right before our eyes!  You've become so active, aware, engaging, and happy...  a blessing beyond anything we could have imagined.

We love you, Abigail

She is getting so big! We so wish we could have been there, too...both for the celebration and for that great weather! Can't wait for our trip there this summer :)

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
