He Did It!!

Kevin completed the Seattle Half Marathon yesterday! Waking up at 5:30am to eat breakfast and stretch. Dropping Kevin off at the start line. The weather was cooperating in the early hours and all seemed well, but quickly turned sour (think windy, rainy, and dreary), yet Kevin pushed through! Abigail and I headed home while he ran, then came back around 9:30 to cheer him on at the finish line.  It was bad enough toting her in a baby bjorn with an umbrella and camera, so I can only imagine how Kevin felt braving this classic Seattle weather for over 2 hours! But come rain or shine, we were there as a family when he completed in just under 3 hours!! Kevin, I am so proud of your determination and accomplishment. Whether it's work, personal goals, or your amazing abilities as a husband and father, this dedication spills over into all you do and is just one of the many reasons I am so blessed to call you my husband. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment, my

Happy Thanksgiving

What a year it has been, with so much to reflect on and be thankful for. Hand turkey made by Abigail Hope this finds you warm, well, and enjoying your loved ones, today and always.

Lazy Days and Girlie Nights

Just coming down from a week with Mamie and Papa (I will post pictures soon!) and gearing up for the Thanksgiving weekend ahead, so Abigail and I are taking the day off. In the cards for us today? Naps by day, and movies by night.  Kevin's getting home late, so a girlie-movie night it is! We promise to get back to blogging after the holiday weekend...

Reckless Abandonment

Abigail was a tummy sleeper in the early months, but she's transitioned onto her back now and loves it. We call it sleeping with reckless abandonment. Throw your arms up, take a deep breath, and just go... Doesn't matter when or where, this girl knows how to get her sleep on!

Why we missed church on Saturday...

Three words:   The Wing Dome . Or, more precisely: 7 Alarm Wings We were on our way home to get ready for church when we passed the Wing Dome.  Kevin, knowing I'd had a rough week, suggested we grab a beer and wings before church. Perfect! And it was.  It gave us some time to decompress from an emotionally stressful week, enjoy a beer, and just catch up.  However, right before we were going to leave, Kevin decided he'd take on a little challenge: the 7 alarm wing.  Mind you, this isn't the full challenge , but still... Maybe he knew how badly I needed a good laugh. Ready to go.  Getting prepped with a sip of beer At first he said he'd only try a bite or two, but he really starting going after it... Potential panic starting to kick in? I was shocked he ate the whole wing, and as he finished, his composure started to diminish...panicked look on his face, eyes watering fiercely. Then it really kicked in. haha! He says the second picture is e

Please Help

As some of you may know, the parents of the missing toddler, Sky Metalwala were friends of mine years ago. This tragic event strikes a very emotional cord for me; not only as a friend, but as the mother of my own precious baby. So please, take a moment to download the flyer  here , and post them around your neighborhood. If something so tragic were to happen to your family, I pray others would do the same. My constant prayers, thoughts, and love are with him and his family.

Up with the Sun

Guess who doesn't care that the last two mornings are the beginning of daylight savings... Gone are the days when Fall daylight savings meant more sleep... But how can you be mad when you have a happy, smiling baby eager to greet you!

3 Months

We're screaming our way into 3 months.... Happy three months, Miss Abigail! This week's picture was taken at 10:00 this morning... the first morning of daylight savings, so it was actually nap time. But hey, one crying picture is good to have in the mix... keeps it real  :) We love you so much, sweet Abigail!  You are turning into such a gentle, calm, happy, and loving little girl, and we are so proud to be your parents.

October with the Opsahl's

Here it is, November 2nd, and I'm dwelling on October...  but I couldn't let the Halloween season pass without mention of this year's October with the Opsahl's celebrations! This year's festivities kicked off with Scary Movie night where we watched Frozen , and came to a frightful peak with the 2nd Annual Halloween Hoopla costume party! Vanessa's amazing Space Needle costume. The resturant area (hat) even had lights in it! Kelly & Andrew's Egyptian style! Jensen's Jersey Shore zombie As always, Richard went overboard with the designing of his costume...  ;) The fabulous Ms. Marie Antoinette, Elle! Thanks Chris and Elle, we had an awesome time this year and can't wait to see what next year brings!!

Trick or Treat!

The gang: Yoda, Princess Leia, and George Lucas ;) Last night we headed out to surprise some family and friends for Halloween! Around 3 o'clock I started getting ready (ditched the wig...dark brown hair does not look good on me) and got Abigail dressed in her Yoda costume....what a sport!  Kevin opted out of the costume festivities, so we told people he was George Lucas  ;) First stop: Grandma and Grandpa's! I'm a huge fan of surprises and was eager to head over and surprise my parents.  My Mom answered the door, and upon realizing it was us, reacted in that Publisher's Clearing House type of way- perfect! We brought over a pumpkin shaped pizza and hung out with them for a few hours.  We figured we could help pass out candy, but sadly they got no trick or treaters. If this trend continues, we may bring Abigail to the Eastside in future years to capitalize off homes with far more candy than kids! We intended to stop by a few other places, but decided
