Why we missed church on Saturday...

Three words:  The Wing Dome.

Or, more precisely: 7 Alarm Wings

We were on our way home to get ready for church when we passed the Wing Dome.  Kevin, knowing I'd had a rough week, suggested we grab a beer and wings before church.

Perfect!

And it was.  It gave us some time to decompress from an emotionally stressful week, enjoy a beer, and just catch up.  However, right before we were going to leave, Kevin decided he'd take on a little challenge: the 7 alarm wing.  Mind you, this isn't the full challenge, but still...

Maybe he knew how badly I needed a good laugh.

Ready to go.  Getting prepped with a sip of beer

At first he said he'd only try a bite or two, but he really starting going after it...

Potential panic starting to kick in?
I was shocked he ate the whole wing, and as he finished, his composure started to diminish...panicked look on his face, eyes watering fiercely.

Then it really kicked in.

haha!

He says the second picture is exactly how he felt, and right after this was taken, he ran outside to get fresh air and walk it off.

The menu advertised milk and ice cream sandwiches for people post-challenge, so being the good wife I am, I ordered him a milk while he was outside losing his mind...

While I cannot relate to the pain of extremely spicy food, his panicked mannerisms reminded me a lot of child birth...  ;)

But he was a trooper.  He came back inside, tried to sit down and act normal, then CHUGGED his half pint of milk

And here's the proof that he finished!

So, the next time you're in Greenwood, let us know if you stop in for the challenge.  Better yet, invite us along to watch!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
