Sleeping Beauty

Apparently she takes after her Dad (who can sleep till 10am, easy) and her Mom (who was 3 weeks late herself), but we met with the doctor yesterday and have a plan: an induction is set for next Thursday night if she doesn't make her big debut before then. We feel really good about this decision: it gives her potentiality 9 days to sleep in  (which apparently runs in the family), while also giving us a date to look forward to! But we'll pack the bags early.  Just in case  ;)

Abbie Day Parade!

(otherwise known as the Greenwood Seafair Parade....) Last night we headed over to 85th and Greenwood to join our neighbors in celebrating the Season of Seafair (yes, it is a season!) We've never seen the neighborhood this busting, so it was fun to get out for the evening and enjoy the festivities. Not much to report in the way of parade going, but it was Kevin's first time at a Seafair parade, and he may or may not have been bored stiff... I on the other hand took 124 pictures (yep- that's an exact total) and reminisced on the years growing up watching the Torchlight Parade.... the Seafair Clowns throwing candy and spraying water, Pirates chasing kids down the street; you know, all the stuff Seattle kid's dreams are made of! Abigail received this button from one of the clowns.  He said it was for "the future of Seafair"  awwh... We got to see the Clowns, but skipped the Pirates.  Kevin says it gives him something to look forward ...

Due Date Updates

A whole lotta nothing. But I sure do feel popular! I've talked to both Moms, Anne and Oscar stopped by to say hi, I got about 5-10 emails and FB messages, and received about 10 texts... it's like we're famous! But either way, nothing fun to report. I did however get a mani/pedi today and I got my hair cut... Hair to be revealed later...got too hot at the nail place and had to pull it back. And yes, that's a coral nail color I choose for the sausages. I also came home to Kevin setting up a TV in our room for me.  We don't usually have one, but it'll be nice once the baby comes to relax and watch movies in our room So let's see...what else? We walked around Greenlake this morning.  The initial thought was to walk down, around, and back, but just to be safe (in case we went into labor) I didn't want to be too tired from a 6 mile walk, so we opted out of the full there-and-back, and just did the lake stroll. Tonight we're h...

Month of Bumps! (37-40)

Dear Abigail,  Are you ready?  Tomorrow is your due date!  I have been having lots of labor signs the last few days, so either you're playing a trick on us, or I'm just too excited (probably the latter...)  You have been such a fun and amazing baby to carry around the last 40 weeks and while I can't wait to meet you face to face, I will surely miss your kicks, hiccups, karate chops, and late night dance parties. This last month you went to your first 4th of July party on Lake Union (you didn't seem to mind the noise of the fireworks at all), and came with us on our first Anniversary trip to Alderbrook.  You also got to taste our wedding cake this weekend too!.... but it made you a little sick...may have been the extra piece I thought we deserved  ;) We have your 40 week doctor's appointment on Thursday, and since the doctor doesn't want us going past 2 weeks, we're going to talk about an induction date if need be (I think you should surprise us all an...

One Year of Wedded Bliss!

Can you believe it's been a year already? The seedling we planted on our wedding day, exactly one year later. When I look back, it seems so much has happened, but it also amuses me to think we've been married a year already... like seasoned vets  ;) My parents got us a room at Alderbrook as an anniversary gift, so we headed up yesterday to enjoy the evening together.  It was the perfect getaway and gave us the opportunity to relax and reflect on our first year of marriage (we also started a reflection journal that we'll update each year.  I posted the Year in Review section of it below) The spot we got married! Does this baby make me look fat?  ;) Kev relaxing  Me and the Bean relaxing We headed to Robinhood Villages for dinner and were surprised with a private table by the creek. When Kevin called to make the reservation, he'd mentioned our anniversary, so they set up a secluded table for us to enjoy; so thoughtful and s...

Aaahhhh....

Got my first prenatal massage today; where have I been the last 39 weeks?!? If you're in the Seattle area, pregnant, and looking for a good prenatal massage, check out Julie at Mom & Baby Massage - she's awesome! The "Kevin's not home, but I needed a picture to go along with my blog post" picture  :) Big weekend ahead....our 1st Anniversary is on Sunday, so we're off to Alderbrook on Sunday night to celebrate! Hope every one is enjoying the finally -summer weather around here!

A 7.7oz Test of Patience

Remember when I mentioned wood letters for the nursery on my post the other day?  This project has been a week in the making, but came to an end Tuesday night in the form of 7.7oz of glorious custom paint. But let's back up... Last week I purchased letters for Abigail's nursery to hang on the wall near her crib.  We decided yellow would be the best color, so we started with yellow spray paint.  However, it was just the wrong color, so back it went to Fred Meyer and I headed to Michael's to look at wood paint.  There I found what I thought would be the perfect color and came home with "light yellow" craft paint. This should work.... and so our project began. After about on hour of painting, hanging, and sanding we stood back to look at the results.  Sure, it looked nice, but the color was still too yellow. Marital dilemma : Kevin thinks it looks great.  I hate it. What's a girl to do?! So I let them stay this way for a few days.... to so...

Maternity leave begins today!

Here's a site I won't see again till October: Does that make me sad? Nope   :)

Meet Molly: Our $200 goldfish

Well, not technically. Here's what happens when you have too much time on your hands and decide to buy a goldfish in the name of cute nursery decor: This was to be a $30 purchase. We strolled into Pet Smart Sunday afternoon with a twinkle on our eye.  We were going to buy our little girl's first pet- how fun!  However, shortly after arriving, we awoke to our first reality:  a 1 gallon fish bowl for a 1" goldfish was not going to fly.  Duh?.... Apparently goldfish grow to a foot long (I'd like to see the day!) and these fish activists mean business.  So after some negotiating we walked away with a 2 gallon tank and a promise to put the fish in a 10 gallon tank in the next few weeks....  Slightly amused with our getaway strategy, we headed to checkout with Molly and Rodger  (Rodger is the snail we threw in for good measure...you know, as a friend for Molly...)  but got no further than check-out ...

"I'm going to build you a bird house with my new drill!"

Were Kevin's exact words.  2 months ago. Remember when he got a new drill ?  Like a kid at Christmas, he ran around the house eager to use it for anything and everything, minus this bird house... So last week, I took matters into my own hands.  While at Michael's getting wood letters for the nursery (more on that later), I picked up a little bird house in the unfinished wood section- for $4! It sure beats buying one for $20, and with all the stain we had leftover from the deck, we (no wait, I should give Kevin credit here: Kevin!) finished it for free  :) Supplies alone would have cost more.  Let alone the time (ahem...) it would have taken Kevin to finally come around and build it  ;) So there you have it...our own little $4 bird cafe! Now I just need to buy some overpriced bird seed.
