Holy haircut!

Most days I feel like everyday occurrences (running to the store, washing dishes, getting people to school on time) are wrapped in a layer of chaos, and Ben's first haircut was no exception.

We had a 12:30 appointment at Kid's Club in  U Village but after hitting 520 traffic, we showed up 12 minutes late.  TWO MINUTES past the grace period, and the gal that was to cut his hair said she couldn't do it.

😳

But the salon was very sweet about it and asked that we stick around the village while they try to squeeze us in.  And lucky for us, 30 minutes later I got a call saying they could take us.

Aside from a couple George meltdowns over Thomas the Train ownership rights (the salon's trains, not his) and Ben throwing a bottle of bubble bath that burst all over the floor, I would say it was a success (low expectations are key!)

Here are some pictures of little man's first cut:

Yes, that's George under the shelf, crying and pissed that he couldn't bring the trains home with him

As the old saying goes: All is well that ends well.

So, considering this ended with a check off my to-do list (i.e., said child, for better or worse, got his hair cut), we will consider it a success!

(next time he'll be going to Super Cuts with his siblings)

ha!

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
