Halloween, 2016

We had a great time celebrating Halloween this year!

Abigail and George got really into everything about it; from costumes to pumpkin carving, they were thrilled.

Back in September we bought George a Superman costume at Costco (to get him out of his Elsa dress), and he quickly adapted; wearing Superman most every day and night.  So it seemed only natural that we join him in a super hero themed Halloween!

All was well as I ordered everyone's costumes, and George was excited to see each as they arrived, but come Halloween Eve as we all tried on our new costumes, George was left with his "old" Superman costume and he was really sad (cue Mommy guilt).

So of course I wanted to help, and here I am at 6pm the night before Halloween, calling around to the local costumes stores and searching online for a "blue Batman" costume.  I was able to find a same-day delivery one on Prime, but when it arrived the next day it was far too big.  So, after convincing him that Spiderman would be super cool (I happened to notice a bunch of them left at Target earlier in the day) off we went (at 4pm on Halloween day!) to rescue George from costume depression.

(yes, this was all incredibly hectic and something I wish to avoid at all costs in years to come šŸ˜¬)

Once everyone was settled, happy, and dressed, we set off to Mamie and Papa's house for their annual Halloween party!

The cousins were back in town and the kids loved hanging out with them, going trick or treating, and eating hot dogs (Abigail had been talking about how Papa dresses up like a hot dog on Halloween for weeks!)

Here are some pictures from the night:

Yep, I let him wear it out of the store šŸ˜†

Happy and ready to roll

Benny's mask didn't work very well šŸ˜‚

Back home I let them have one more treat
Then it was time to leave the rest of their goodies out for the Ghost of Halloween Spirit!

At the very least, it was a Halloween to remember!

I hope you all had a fun holiday as well.

Happy Halloween šŸŽƒ

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
