Benjamin's Baptism

I'm still recovering from Benjamin's big day! We celebrated his baptism on May 15th, surrounded by our family and friends. This time around felt especially personal since we've been attending St Joe's and were greeted by several familiar faces. Months ago I asked Susie to be Benjamin's Godmother (and Victor to be his Godfather), so she and Godfather Pete (my Godfather) flew in from NY to celebrate with us. The day was full of meaning, symbolism, and love, and I soaked in every moment possible, feeling these precious days slipping by all too fast. Thankfully we took a pre-baptism picture (of course it was the best we got!) The Rite of Reception  Abigail was thrilled to have Danielle with her  Dad and the soon-to-be Holy One  ;) Sacred Chrism (which we've been smelling on Benny for almost two weeks now!) eight months

Life has been a whirlwind this past week.  George was sick, then toward the end of the week it was go-time getting everything ready for your baptism.  After spending a few nights in Leavenworth after your big day, we got home Tuesday evening and are finally getting back to the swing of things; George and Abigail are both off to school this morning, you're taking your morning nap, and I'm blogging with coffee in hand (we win!) Things have been so busy and it's hard to believe how fast you're growing.  You went down hard for nap this morning, so once Abigail was off to school, I spent 15-20 minutes nursing and rocking you to sleep.  I usually put you down awake for morning nap (honestly, for lack of time) but this morning I reveled in all things baby; staying there with you in our rocking chair, breathing in those sweet baby smells that too soon will be gone. So much has happened this past month and you're growing up before my very eyes! Here's what...

Mother's Day 2016

We had a blast celebrating Mother's Day this year! As per tradition, Kevin surprises me for the day.  I realize the expectations are high and could backfire at any moment (and they have!) but we love putting the FUN in dysfunction! This year I awoke to breakfast in bed (where I watched Curious George with the big kids) and was cooked my favorite: Eggs Benedict.  After breakfast came the big reveal: an overnight at Suncadia - that night! We drove up at nap and spent the day drinking, swimming (Benny's first time!), running around the hotel, watching movies, and eating room service pizza for dinner. It was perfect. Aside from Kevin's phone getting drenched in water, and mine with a broken camera lens (and thus, fuzzy pictures) I would say it was the best celebration to date (Kevin taking off Monday work, giving me a shorter week was a bonus too) Road trip! Waiting while Dad checks in, making faces at the camera Checking out the digs An...
