two months

Man, life is busy with three kids four and under, but I'm loving it so far!

Before you came along my days were more relaxed, but I love the energetic chaos of three; it suits my dysfunctional need to be super busy all the time.

We've had a really great month; celebrating your first Halloween, and spending a bunch of time in Leavenworth- we're back up there this week for Thanksgiving and I can hardly wait.

Every day you're transitioning more from infancy to babyhood, and while I love the early days, I do think I prefer the early months- those first big smiles and coos, rolling over, and finding a rhythm to the day.

I feel like I've gotten to know you so well this past month, and what a sweetheart you are.

Here's what's new:

  • Last week you started going to bed around 7-8pm and waking for the day around 7-8am
  • Between that time, you wake to nurse around 3-4am, then again at 6-7am.  You're a great sleeper!
  • You rolled over last week while up on your elbows and did it again for Dr. Stanos at your 2 month appointment
  • Baby Stats: 23.74" (81%), and 10lbs, 10oz (11%) a tall, skinny guy  :)
  • I've packed away all your newborn clothes and we've moved on to 0-3, quickly becoming 3-6!
  • You LOVE smiling and cooing at us after a big feeding
  • You hate if I talk while nursing (just like Abigail!)
  • Swaddling and a paci are a must at bedtime
  • You nap about every 90 minutes for around 30 minutes to an hour
  • You sleep in a rock and play.  I was pretty sure this qualified me as the worst parent of all time, but Dr. Stanos was totally fine with it.  (yay!)
  • I call your paci a nunni bubba.  I have NO idea where that came from, but it stuck
  • You still love being carried around in the Ergo, but my back hasn't been in agreement for a few weeks now :(

You really are such a sweet and easy baby.  Now that I'm starting to find a rhythm, I have more time to spend with you; laying together on the floor, talking in baby coos, and gazing into your beautiful, big blue eyes.

You are such a beautiful addition to our little family and I love you so much.

Happy 2 months, little guy.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
