Leavenworth Double Header

We just got back from our second weekend in Leavenworth. We hadn't been up there since Kevin's birthday in August, so it was nice to get back and relax. Plus, it was Benjamin's first time, so that made it extra special. Round 1: We spent the first weekend with my parents.  My Dad brought he and Abigail's Cobras to the house, so the kids spent the weekend driving their little car around.  Abigail mainly drove.  George would at times try, but his loyalty lay with the train toys he had clenched in his hand, so steering was a second  priority ;) We also took the kids to Smallwood farm to get pumpkins and ride the cow train (I love me some cow train!) And to make it even more special, we celebrated Benjamin's one month birthday that Friday night.  One month "zero" birthday candle, and all :) hitting the open lane birthday boy! Looks like Benny wanted to blow his own candle out ;) Taking shade Friday afternoon We ran out ...

one month

Wow! To say this month has flown by would be an understatement.  Life is moving so fast these days, and half the time I have to remind myself I'm no longer pregnant, let alone the Mom of a one month old! It has been an interesting month.  Finding my groove has been hard, but I just started spending my days alone with the 3 (Kevin, Mamie, and my Mom have been helping a ton), so in all fairness, I haven't had much time to learn the ropes on my own- but it's coming along.  I'm not sure 3 is harder than 2, but George has been having a really hard time adjusting, so trying to cater to his needs (which is a priority!) while figuring out everything else has left me exhausted most days. But on the bright side, things have been wonderful and pretty easy with little Benjamin! Sleeping: We go to bed at 9pm.  Sometimes he sleeps until 2am, other times he's up at 11pm.  Either way, after that first feeding, it's every two hours.  Every night.  But on the...

Mamie to the Rescue

Last week Kevin went back to work and Mamie came to stay with us for the week. I knew we were in for a treat when she came bearing groceries and cookies Tuesday morning! It was wonderful to spend a week relaxing with the babe knowing Abigail and George were in excellent care.  She cooked every meal, cleaned, got Abigail off to school each day, played puzzles, trains, "money", and dress-up while I stole away for naps, baths, and even a date night! Having family nearby is such a gift. Mamie,  Having you here was heaven sent.  We loved spending so much time with you, and I know the kids soaked in every second as well. Thank you for every diaper change, dishwasher unload, meal, and George meltdown assist  :)    We love you so much!

Two Cool!

WAY back in January, when we found out we were pregnant (and realized our due date!), I started planning George's birthday party. True story! Little did I think I'd end up with boys a day apart , but alas, The Universe wanted to keep me on my toes  ;) So back in the wee months of the year, I decided I would plan George's party a few weeks after the actual date; to factor in going over my due date (which I always have) and a few days to rest and recover before jumping into party mode (which worked out perfectly). We invited The Bubbleman to the party and George was over the moon!  He was front and center from the very beginning to the bitter end - requesting an encore even as The Bubbleman tried to pack up  :) And his cake!  Apparently George's love of sheet cake (and keeping it to himself!) run deeps.  Per Auntie's suggestion, we'll be doing cupcakes next year.  George was NOT interested in sharing "his" 1/4 sheet cake.  Not. One. Bit. ;) ...
