George Goes to the Dentist

George had his first dental appointment and is now an official member of the no cavity club! He wasn't good at sitting still (he stayed the way you see above for about 70 seconds), but once they distracted him with a movie (Curious George, of course!) he was the perfect patient; allowing the doctor time to look through his mouth and clean his teeth. She informed me that George has his two top molars coming (within the next week!), and his bottoms molars following right behind (she thought probably by the following week). Sleep, my dear old friend, it was nice knowing you. Abigail came too and was the perfect big sister; sitting in a chair next to us thankful that she wasn't in the hot seat :)

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip

Today I joined Abigail and her friends at Jubilee Farms for a day at the pumpkin patch! This was my first time as a chaperon, and I have to say, while I had a lot of fun hanging out with the kids and other Moms, I didn't feel like one of those  old Moms I remember from my field trips. A matter of perception, I suppose  :) Riding behind the tractor, finding the perfect pumpkin (Abigail found a green one with a really cool stem), and running around the hay maze was a blast. Arriving at the patch Walking with Ms Cindi and friends This is the pumpkin she chose; of all the ones in the patch  :) Post tumble, covered in mud  :) Abigail and Alexander I was sure Abigail would love having me there (again, an unfortunate matter of perception..) but she was very independent. I got a few "No, Mama, stop" in an annoyed tone , and an obvious preference to hold her friends hand over mine. Is my sweet girl already at...

Happy Birthday, Uncle Victor

We spent the weekend in Leavenworth celebrating my brother's birthday. His THIRTIETH! (Oh boy, the years are passing quickly now) It was such a nice, relaxing weekend with the family. Catherine and Victor Kevin, intent as ever to get that perfect picture with Abigail :) This girl was in Heaven! Morning walk with the birthday boy Abigail and Kevin checking out the new (unfinished) garage Taking Gpa on a property tour :) I'll let you guess... :) Flying helicopters! My boy Relaxing with Dada Lunch at Andrea Kellers Abigail could have stayed and listened to music all day! It has been such a gift having a place to get away and spend quality time as a family, and moreover, a place that has been such a special part of our family for so long. As always, a great time. Have a great Halloween week, everyone!

School Pictures, 2014

School pictures came today and they're   pretty stinkin' adorable. Abigail found them hilarious, which was quite entertaining.  I wish I knew what she finds so funny about them, but I think I have a pretty good idea  ;) They also took a class picture which totally cracked her up; she sat looking at it, cackling to herself. Yes, cackling. A wise, quiet little cackle! And when I asked what was so funny, she smiled and pointed to herself  :) I can't say they're what I expected, but they sure are cute! ;)

Fall is here!

I was really digging summer this year and could have used a few more warm days.  But alas, October, flannel, and pumpkins arrived and (eventually) my Fall spirit followed. We have yet to take the kids to the pumpkin patch (Mamie and Papa did while we were at Oktoberfest last weekend!) , but we're enjoy the cooler weather and the comfort food that comes along with it  :) Here are some pictures of what we've been up to this past month: Posing on the tractor at Smallwood Farms Oh yes I did  :) QT with some chickens spoiler alert and sneak peek at A's costume (she doesn't seem too happy that I'm tell you) An afternoon on the Icicle  Oktoberfest with Steph and Reid! Bustin' a move, Bavarian style  We've been spending a lot of time in Leavenworth but also here at home, settling in.  We went furniture shopping this week and plan to start working on some projects soon.  Things are coming along! Kevin's Aunt and U...

About Baby Jesus

I feel like I've been talking about George so much lately (and rightfully so, I love my baby boy!) but I miss talking about my darling girl; especially now that she's at such a fun age, where every day she surprises me with her perspectives on the world and the developing language to compliment it. So I decided to start a "kids say the darndest things" label where I share the funny comments she's made.  They will be quick posts, but something I will love looking back on. You may have already seen this one , which is sure to be a classic, but here's another from last night: Abigail walked into our room and went straight to my nightstand to look at baby pictures of herself and George.  While standing there she noticed my Rosary box: A:  "What's that?" Me: "It's my Rosary Box" A: "Oh." (and then pointing to Baby Jesus) "Who's that?" Me: "That's Baby Jesus, and that's Mary, his ...

13 months

Blogging hasn't been my strong suit this year. The move, a backed-up computer (with thousands of pictures slowing it down), and life in general has kept me away, but I'm ready to be back, and what better way than with a 13 month George post  ;) So here we are, Sir George! It's been a month since my last post (which just so happened to be about you!) and a month into your second year. You are an adventurous little boy; never shying away from climbing, exploring, or the chance to try new things. You love going down the slide at the park, climbing into Sissy's chair at the dinner table, and crawling across said table. You love to be awake, and while I know you enjoy a good nap, you've been fighting them.  Right now you are banging on your wall, but soon you'll be dreaming away and will wake refreshed and happy in a few hours. Yes, two naps are still essential. For both of us :) Here are your Fun Facts this month: You've started saying ...
