A Weekend Away With My (little) Boy

George and I flew to LA last weekend to celebrate Brennan's first birthday, and we had such a great time!

It was my first time flying solo with either of my kids.  I was a bit nervous, but both flights went fairly well.

On the way down he was content to play peek-a-boo, study his toys, and have a few snacks.  He fell asleep about 30 minutes into our flight, but only slept for 20 minutes (grrr!)

And on the way back, while it ended in a 2 hour-plus nap, it began with a hot, shirtless, tired, (but in true George form), smiley baby.  He was like the drunk guy at the party; the night starts off and everyone's having fun- laughing, telling jokes, and having a great time, but at some point this guy becomes belligerent (unbeknownst to him) and while he believes he's still the life of the party, everyone's actually trying to ignore him.

Yep, he was that guy for the first 10 minutes of the flight, before passing out the rest of the trip- shirtless and all  ;)

All is well that ends well

Our weekend was nice and relaxing, sprinkled with a fun trip to the beach, Brennan's birthday party (I'm pretty sure George thought everyone was there for him!), and some kiddie pool time.  He loved the cats, sand, food, and people, but hated sleep...

The Birthday Boy!  (he did NOT like cake!)

It was so much fun getting the boys together and watching them interact.  Every morning they would greet each other with huge smiles, then speed crawl to meet; happily pulling hair and poking eyes.  They were true buds and it was so fun to watch.  Even at Brennan's party, in the midst of chaos, I would see them look at each other from across the room and smile.

It was seriously cute!  A new generation of BFF's

Annie, thank you so much for having me and your sleepless Godson for the weekend  :)  We had so much fun playing and spending time with you guys.

And a happiest of First Birthday's, Brennan!  You're the sweetest and we love you.

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...

five months

Happy #5, Benny Boy! You have grown up so much this past month, and in the sweetest ways possible.  You adore a good tickle or friendly face and can't seem to soak in the world around you enough; every time I look at you, your eyes are quickly scanning the room, working hard to put all the pieces together. A smart little guy, you are  :) This month I moved you to the nursery.  It was becoming increasingly difficult to put Abigail and George to bed at night, but putting them together in a room has made bedtime simple - they love being together.  As such, you now have your own room!  It's so sweet being back in a nursery with a little one.  Since George was in our bedroom until he was 5 months, then living at Gma and Gpa's for another 6 months, he wasn't in his own room until his first birthday.  So, in many ways, having you in a nursery reminds me so much of my first time around the Motherhood block, and many nights it fills me with such joy just...
