Easter 2014

We were plagued by the flu last week and unfortunately my Mom, Mamie, Papa, and Uncle Mike had it too.  Since my Mom was hosting Easter, we decided it was best to cancel the party to ensure no more germs were spread. Instead, we spent a fun-filled weekend at Mamie and Papa's (the flu hit them at the same time as us, so we were good). What fun we had!  The kids stayed with Mamie and Papa Saturday afternoon while we went house hunting, then we had a big family dinner that night with Anne, Ian, and the kids. Sunday morning Anne & Ian hosted an egg hunt for the kids.  Abigail had a great time finding eggs and eating candy; she kept saying "I have egg" in between mouthfuls of Cadbury Mini's  :) The kids waiting to open their bags from Mamie The hunting crew Later in the morning we went to Bethany (Mamie and Papa's church) and put the kids in Sunday School.  Abigail did great (I just told her she was...

7 Months

Happy (belated) seven months, Buddy! I know I'm a few days late, but life has been crazy.  (I'm pretty sure this has been my excuse for the past 2 months and will continue for at least the next 2).  This past month we took you on your first trip to Alderbrook , moved out of the house and closed, got a crazy stomach flu (which thankfully skipped you and Abigail) and most recently spent the holiday weekend at Mamie and Papa's celebrating your first Easter. So yes, I'll play the busy card :) This month has been full of huge strides forward, and a few strides back (I'm referring to sleep....I'm always referring to sleep!)   While I love how active you are, you are not a cuddly baby and that has taken some getting used to.  In order to get my cuddle time with you, I often let you nap on my chest or hold you longer than needed to fall asleep.  I need baby cuddles; they keep me sane. Here are some fun facts this month: ...

The Easter Bunny

I took the kids to Bellevue Square last week to see the Easter bunny.  This was obviously George's first year and only the second for Abigail (I purposefully didn't go last year; once I start making "traditions" of something, I tend to be militant, and the Easter bunny simply shouldn't one of them) I got the kids all dressed up in their Easter outfits and was excited to see Abigail's reaction. She spotted him 50 yards away and was repeatedly chanting  "no Mama"  with her head buried deep in my neck by the time we arrived.  She refused to get down and walk on her own (which made it difficult to get George out of the stroller) and clung to me for dear life.  But with the help of Bunny's assistant, we were able to get George seated on the Easter bunny's lap (his reaction was practically a mirror image of his sister's 2 years earlier...could care less) and through the tears and "no Mama's" I somehow managed to peel a panic...

Pack It Up and Move It Out

The house is sold and we're in the processes of getting all lose ends tied up (the biggest of which was moving the rest of our furniture out this weekend). Luckily we were joined by some generous friends and family who spent Saturday morning helping out. Why does a move always seems like less work than it really is?! Tonight we sign papers and Thursday we close. Now all we need is a new house!  Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers; we're hoping this sellers market will be good to us...

Family Time at Alderbrook

Kevin left work early last Friday and we headed to Alderbrook.  Friday morning was Abigail's first day of school , so it was a day full of excitement. We talked about riding the ferry all morning and after picking Miss Abigail up from school, we headed straight to town for a ferry ride to Bremerton.  Abigail and George loved sitting in the far back of the car with me while we waited for the ferry, and once we boarded Abigail got a kick out of running on the deck with the wind blowing wildly around her.   With all energy exerted, the kids slept soundly on the car ride to Union and everyone was refreshed and ready to go once we arrived at Alderbrook. (an expectation went as planned- success!) We spent the afternoon walking to the waterfront and out on the dock (the tide was low and they were harvesting oysters), then spent the evening at a fresh oyster and whiskey tasting, and swimming in the pool....

Abigail's First Day of School

Friday was Abigail's first day of school at Sunnybrook Montessori! She was so excited that morning; backpack full of supplies (it was so heavy, she kept tipping backward), and ready for new adventures! We were greeted by Miss Holly (her teacher), and a handful of new classmates eager to meet their new classmate (one girl, Adele, tried holding Abigail's hand at the snack table- too cute!) and while Abigail was hesitant to let me leave, she put on her brave face and away she went (an adorably heart breaking Mommy-moment). I came back at noon, greeted by an ever-eager Abigail, and a huge bear hug. Teacher Holly said she did great; very observant (classic Bits), but reportedly more like a kid who'd been there a week vs. a day. And boy did I get an earful on the way home!  Abigail couldn't stop talking about "cool" (school) and all the fun things she did that day (circle time, books, snack, playing outside..) I feel really good about he...
