6 Months

I sit here with a symphony of self-soothing cries playing through the monitors.  It's nap time and since I managed to get you both down at the same time, this is my golden opportunity to write to you.

This past month has been a blur of house stuff (it went on the market last Friday and we accepted an offer yesterday!), adjusting to new routines at Gma and Gpa's (big change always takes some getting used to), Abigail got tubes in her ears two weeks ago (that alone was a week full of appointments at Children's), and all the while, I've been doing my best to stay sane.   Yes, life is crazy.  Amazing, but crazy.

SO!  Half a year, buddy!

Here's what's new:

Although you are making progress with nighttime sleep, you won't be winning The Sleeper of the Year award, and that's okay; we're getting there.  When we moved here we had you set up in our room, but with your night wakings (and my desire to let you figure it out on your own), we moved you to Gma's office and sleep has been getting better.

Aside from the sacred act of sleep, you are flourishing!  Scooting around everywhere, blowing bubbles in appreciation of a good meal, ever so alertly exploring the world around you, and smiling each step of the way.

Here are some fun facts this month:
  • You've begun scooting towards your toys and tucking your knees up while playing on your tummy.  It's only a matter of time...!
  • You spend hours in the jumperoo; jumping is your favorite thing to do.
  • Some foods you love: dried peaches, rice and beans (loving Mexican food is a requirement in this family), mashed potatoes, applesauce, and cinnamon oatmeal.
  • I bought you a sippy cup since you're always reaching for our drinks.  You love drinking from it and holding the handles like a big boy.
  • You insist on holding your squeeze pack baby foods, too.  It gets messy, but you love it
  • Teethers continue to be your favorite toy
  • You are quickly outgrowing your 6 month clothes and the majority of your sleepers are 9 month size.
  • Getting you to stay on your back for a diaper change is challenging, so a toy to keep you entertained is essential.  You're my little mover and shaker  ;)

We're off the Leavenworth this weekend to enjoy some family time.  I can already hear you and Sissy in the backseat, laughing, chatting, and yelling all the way there  :)

I adore you, Baby Boy.

Happy 6 months.

Covered in baby food, squeeze pack in hand  :)

20 week ultrasound

Yesterday Kevin and I went to our 20 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great and the two questions still lingering in my mind were confirmed. 1) Yes, it's a boy! 2) Nope, I'm not having twins  :) I've heard it a million times: with each pregnancy you pop a little sooner, but when I was in maternity pants at 12 weeks, I thought surely there must be two in there... Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see. During George's 20 week ultrasound Kevin admitted he'd almost fallen asleep, so I will admit: I had a hard time staying awake this time  :) But we did get to see him in 4D ultrasound which we've never done before, so that was really cool. So fun! After our appointment we went to breakfast at Salish Lodge and took my first Month of Bumps picture. (cue shrills of excitement from everyone eager to see belly pics for the next 4 months!) Before taking the picture I (lovingly) assured Kevin that yes, we would be taking...

Cocina Esperanza

Just had to give a shout out to our new restaurant find!  Kevin and I were driving around the Sunset Hill / Blue Ridge neighborhoods last weekend and came upon this little Mexican restaurant.  A very unassuming place...small brick building near the corner of NW 85th & 30th Ave (right next to the north entrance of Golden Garden's and Shilshole Bay Marina).  We finally got around to checking it out late last week, and oh boy, have we been missing out!! Now, any of you who know me, know I'm a self proclaimed Mexican food connoisseur...and by connoisseur, I mean boarder line obsessive.  I love all things Mexican cuisine...especially melted cheese.  So I should admit; their whole "authentic" label had me a bit apprehensive ...."will there be enough melted cheese on my food??"   was sadly my first thought  (hey, I'm pregnant...give a girl a break!)  So, late last week, we wandered in, found a nice table by the window, ordered t...

Two!

Yesterday you turned two; I can hardly believe it! Two year pictures, wearing a dress I wore when I was little You are such a funny, sweet little girl, and I love seeing your personality unfold more each day.  This last month you've really started coming out of your shell and love making people laugh; whether tickling "gee gee gee gee" , or joking around (the other day you took a doll house high chair and pretended to sit in it...all the while looking back at me smiling and laughing like "look, I'm going to try and sit in this teeny highchair!" ), you sure know how to make us laugh. Music is your first love.  Beach Boys Greatest Hits is the current album favorite , so we listen to it in the car every day.  Mainly to Barbara Ann (you always request "ba ba ba" ).  You also love listening to Swiss music with Grandma and having Dad play "Abigail Loves Cheese" on his guitar when he gets home at night. Schwingfest is this Saturday a...
