Happy Thanksgiving

From our little turkeys to yours, we hope you enjoy this special day. Happy Thanksgiving!

Siblings

Anyone with more than one child can recall the magical moment their babies met. Kevin and I were overjoyed watching those first weeks of interaction and as the weeks have passed, the moments have only gotten sweeter. It's been interesting to watch the dynamics change in our house. Abigail and I are still very close, but she's been warming up to Kevin and just loves her Dada (oh boy, here we go...).  And while George is pretty straightforward at this age, he enjoys his Dada time too, giving Kevin lots of big smiles and coos each night. As for Abigail and George, he loves watching her play, smiling at her, and listening to her talk to him in her high-pitched puppy voice. She loves petting his head, giving him kisses, and having a bubba with him.  Bubba time is sort of like happy hour around here.  Problem is, Abigail never took a pacifier so she has no idea how to suck on it. Fine by me! I think these two will be lifelong ...

2 months

George,  Can you believe you're two months already?  You are growing so fast and delight us every day with your new abilities!  Abigail is far from tiring of you and adores holding you (she tells us this by crossing her arms and bouncing them up and down), pretending to feed you, and insisting on giving you your "bubba" (pacificer) whether you like it or not  :) We've had a big month of firsts:  your first holiday , your first cold , your first real smile, your first overnight at Gma and Gpa's (we fled there during the power outage), and your first overnight without us (Mamie and Papa watched you guys while Dad and I spent a night downtown). You are such a relaxed, happy little guy! Here are some things we've learned about you this month: You cry when we drive under 30 mph.  31 and above: golden silence. Seriously!  It happens every time, right on the mark. You love to smile, especially when I greet you with a big, hap...

Georgia Boy

George turned 7 weeks old this past weekend and is growing more by the day.  Each day I sing him "Georgia Boy" to the tune of "Solider Boy"   (changing the lyrics from "Solider Boy" to "Georgia Boy" , and "you were my first love" , to "you were my third love" :) I love having our solo time on Wednesdays and Fridays when Abigail's with Grandma and I adore getting to know him more each day. Before he was born, I was determined not to give him classic second child treatment: less photos, an incomplete baby book, secondary treatment... and I think so far I'm doing pretty well.  Sure, I haven't taken 1,200 pictures in the first 7 weeks (this was how many we have from Abigail's first 7 weeks; many of those are an over-zealous amount from her weekly picture project ) but I have managed to take as many quick iPhone snap shots and purposeful "nice camera" pictures as time has allowed. Here are my favorit...

Halloween 2013

We had a great time at Mamie and Papa's Halloween party last night. Anne let us borrow Lucy's Dorothy costume and my Mom spent the past few weeks making George's lion costume, so we went with an all-out OZ theme! Minus the chaos of getting everyone ready, some cheap green makeup that turned my face bright red, and Abigail's twisted ankle, the evening was a success. Driving over, Kevin reminded me how much harder it is doing these things with kids ( he's referring to the fact that I insist on dressing up ), and after wrangling four costumes together last night, I think I'm starting to agree. Now I just have to remind my future self of this in 364 days  ;) As I mentioned, this was Abigail's first year trick-or-treating but with a twisted ankle, she wasn't able to run around on her own, so she and Kevin went door to door.  In hindsight this probably worked better; I don't think she would walk up to strangers doors, even with us right behi...
