Family Prost

We just got back from Leavenworth and had a great time! Just a few months ago I wouldn't have dreamt a getaway with two kids two and under would be fun, but it was nice having some time as a family of four again. We stayed in town at the FairBridge (three cheers for two star motels with an indoor pool!), spent the afternoon at Cured , Munchen Haus , and  Icicle Brewery  ( as the ol' saying goes: a family who bar hops together, stays together!) and finished off the evening with local fare and dancing at King Ludwig's . These two sure know how to party.  It's genetic  ;) Aside from Abigail falling on her head twice ; once off the picnic bench at Icicle Brewery and once out of bed that night (poor thing!), the weekend was a success. First stop, Cured! Such a big boy, sitting in a highchair RK (Abigail's most recent addition to her cat collection) stays hydrated at Muchen Haus George had quite the drun...

George's First Swim!

Early this week we got a 3 day pass at the YMCA.  Since we're staying with my parents we thought it would be a fun place to take the kids after work and on the weekends. We were slightly overzealous going into it Tuesday night: we went after work, dropped the kids at the Kids Zone (they did great!), worked out, then went for a family swim.    First of all, going in to a family changing area with a two year old (who's just dying to open the door while you're changing), and a squirmy little 6 month old isn't easy, let alone the fact that after you're done, you have to strip off your own wet clothes as well as said children's, all the while ensuring no one is dropped (6 month old) or runs out of the room while you're stark naked (2 year old). Two kids gives you such unfortunate insight into how easy you had it with one...  sigh. Anyway, we will probably never do this again .  It was George'...

6 Months

I sit here with a symphony of self-soothing cries playing through the monitors.  It's nap time and since I managed to get you both down at the same time, this is my golden opportunity to write to you. This past month has been a blur of house stuff (it went on the market last Friday and we accepted an offer yesterday!), adjusting to new routines at Gma and Gpa's (big change always takes some getting used to), Abigail got tubes in her ears two weeks ago (that alone was a week full of appointments at Children's), and all the while, I've been doing my best to stay sane.   Yes, life is crazy.  Amazing, but crazy. SO!  Half a year, buddy! Here's what's new: Although you are making progress with nighttime sleep, you won't be winning The Sleeper of the Year award, and that's okay; we're getting there.  When we moved here we had you set up in our room, but with your night wakings (and my desir...
